SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane kids will soon have a chance to step into the diamond and learn the basics of T-Ball.
Spokane Public Schools announced a new youth baseball league in collaboration with the Spokane Indians Youth Baseball & Softball set to begin this fall. The "Little Sluggers Program" will offer T-Ball to incoming Pre-K through first grade students over a six-week season with five games beginning in September.
Registration for the program opens in mid-May and closes August 15 with practices scheduled for one day each week from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at elementary schools across the district.
“Partnerships like this are part of our district’s goal of providing as many opportunities as we can to get kids involved in real life activities that foster connections, learning, and success,” SPS Superintendent Adam Swinyard said.
Officials said the program is designed to be affordable with scholarships and financial assistance available to ensure all children can participate.
