SPOKANE, Wash. — The beginning of a new year brings back the return of the Riverfront Park New Year's Eve celebration.

The City of Spokane will host its annual fireworks show from the clock tower on New Year's Eve at 9 p.m. Everyone at the celebration can find the best spot to watch the fireworks on the Promenade or the Orange Bridge area near the splash pad at Riverfront Park.

Spokane officials expect 5,000 people at the celebration.

The city said they spent $15,000 on this year's fireworks. Riverfront Park hosted Spokane's New Year's Eve fireworks show for 40 years. The City of Spokane then took over the celebration in 2018.

It's not only fireworks for the big holiday. Food trucks will line the orange bridge near the Looff Carrousel at 4 p.m.  The Numerica Skate Ribbon in the park will stay open late until 10 p.m.

A DJ will take over the ice rink from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The DJ will give the official countdown for the fireworks.

A holiday light show will also run at the Pavilion from sunset to 12:30 a.m. into the New Year.

City officials said the busiest time at the park will be from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and encourage people to arrive early to the show.
