SPOKANE, Wash. — The Inlander announced the Avista Foundation will match up to $10,000 in donations to help restaurant workers in need for 2024's Restaurant Week.
The Inlander partnered with Big Table and CDAIDE to raise money for restaurant employees like cooks and wait staff. These donations will go toward dental care, medical care, mental health, rent assistance and other everyday services.
According to the Inlander, Spokane's restaurant and hospitality businesses employ almost 24,000 people. Half of those employees make less than the "survival" income level by economists. The Inlander also said Kootenai County employees in the restaurant industry make an average of $23,160 for full-time work.
To donate, all Restaurant Week menus will have a QR code to make donations directly to Big Table and CDAIDE.
“The Avista Foundation is pleased to be a match sponsor for this year’s Restaurant Week benefiting CDAIDE and Big Table, two partner organizations that the Avista Foundation has long partnered with to lend a hand to our local restaurant and hospitality industry professionals,” said Kristine Meyer, the Executive Director of Avista Foundation.
