‘How to Train Your Dragon’ in concert to close out Festival at Sandpoint

SANDPOINT, Idaho — How to Train Your Dragon In Concert will close out the Festival at Sandpoint on August 4 at 7 p.m. 

The concert consists of the movie being played on a large screen while a live symphony plays the movie’s score. 

The concert will be performed by the Festival at Sandpoint Orchestra, which features over 70 talented musicians. This is the second performance by the orchestra and will be the largest in the program’s history. 

Morihiko Nakahara will be conducting the performance. Nakahara spent 16 years as the resident conductor of the Spokane Symphony, works as the music director of the South Carolina Philharmonic and also acts as the director of orchestra studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. 

He is well-known for his charismatic presence on and off the podium, his innovative and audience-friendly programming skills and his thoughtful interpretations of both standard and contemporary pieces. 

Before the concert, there will be free face painting. 

For adults, tickets to the Taste of the Stars beer, wine and spirits tasting are on sale. The ticket is a $9.95 add-on to the general admission ticket.

The concert will require guests to be seated. The area near the stage is general admission and will be open to short chairs and blanket seating only. 

Gates open at 5 p.m. Music begins at 7 p.m. 

Free parking is available at the Sandpoint High School Parking Lot and there is a free shuttle service to and from the parking lot and the venue that runs continuously between 4:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.
