SPOKANE, Wash. — We can't talk about Hoopfest without wanting to highlight the thousands of people who volunteer to help make the tournament a reality.

This year, 3,000 volunteers signed up to help put on Hoopfest, and that includes doing the grunt work like picking up litter in the streets, laying down the tape for the courts and taking everything down when the weekend is over.

One volunteer spoke about how meaningful the experience has been.

"Ever since we didn't have Hoopfest during Covid, bringing it back has been so cool to see everybody come out," Maddy Stockton said. "The numbers keep getting bigger every year, and that's all we can hope to see. It's been so fun to see everybody out here enjoying themselves, we got great weather this year, so it's been good."

It's worth mentioning that a part of volunteering is taking everything down and getting ready for the streets to go back to normal by Monday, July 1. That's a real team effort and couldn't be done without them.
