Celebrate Greek culture at 88th annual Greek Festival

The Greek Festival, hosted by the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, promises authentic food, dance and community.

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church is hosting its 88th annual Greek Festival beginning on Thursday, September 19.

The festival will take place from Thursday to Saturday, Sept. 21 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day.

Attendees are invited to celebrate and enjoy Greek culture through food, music, dancing and community.

"Every year I am blown away by the support and generosity of the Spokane community," said Reverend Father Daniel Triant, the head priest at Holy Trinity. "We are honored to serve you in this way and we hope you will always delight in the warmth and hospitality that are the pillars of our culture."

The festival boasts popular Greek food like stuffed gyros, loukoumades (Greek fried dough balls) and fresh baklava. This year the festival will also feature pastitsio, a hearty dish of ground beef and pasta.

"Our numbers continue to grow every year," said Reverend Triant. "I can't put into words what it means for our parish to be able to share our deep faith and cultural roots with the Spokane community, whether you've been joining us for decades or it's your first time experiencing this time-honored tradition. To show our appreciation and give back, we're donating a portion of this year's festival proceeds to two local charities: Thrive International and Caritas Outreach Ministries."

The festival will also feature the church's dance group, the Opa Dancers. The dancers will perform in the courtyard and festivalgoers are welcome to join in.

The church will also be open for tours at the following times:

  • Thursday, Sept. 19 - 12:30 p.m., 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
  • Friday, Sept. 20 - 12:30 p.m., 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
