SPOKANE, Wash. โ The Great Pumpkinfest is returning to downtown Spokane for its fifth year starting this weekend.
The family-friendly festival boasts activities like line dancing and live music for families to enjoy for free.
The festival was started in 2020 by the Loera family, a local family with over 30 years of agricultural experience. The family grows pumpkins for the festival and donates the money to Projectid and the Love Your Neighbor (LVN) Foundation, two Spokane nonprofits that seek to support the community.
Since 2020, Pumpkinfest has raised around $205,000 for the local nonprofits.
The family said on Facebook that they have grown around 10,000 pumpkins for the season. So far, 1,000 pumpkins are at the site of the festival, with 5,000 on the way, according to the Great Pumpkinfest page on Facebook.
The event will be held at Brick West Brewing and three bands will headline the weekend evening of events.
The concerts happen every Saturday on festival weekends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
"Alcohol & Feelings" will open the festival on September 28, followed by "OutWest" on October 5. The final concert will be played by "Old Souls & Antiques" on October 12.
Brick West Brewing will be open for food and drinks during the festival.
In addition to live music, the festival will feature free face painting, raffles and a free petting zoo from 2nd Chance Ranch.
