SPOKANE, Wash. — Gonzaga University will host a special concert featuring the Duke Ellington's music.
Duke Ellington: From Swing to Sacred concert features the jazz music played by Gonzaga faculty, students, and professional musicians around Spokane. The concert is on Feb. 24, with general admission tickets starting at $15.
Duke Ellington is best known as an American composer and pianist for big band jazz. Ellington composed music for live shows and films during his career. His music is some of the most well-known jazz from the big band era.
The concert will feature Gonzaga faculty Jadrian Tarver as a featured soloist. Gonzaga alumnus and New England Conservatory conductor William Drury will guest conduct a group made up of Gonzaga faculty and students. This show is the West Coast premiere of "Music from the Sacred Concerts for Choir, Jazz Trio and Wind Orchestra."
Tickets are available at the Myrtle Woldson Performing Arts Center box office at Gonzaga, open from Mon-Fri from noon to 5 p.m. You can also buy tickets on the Gonzaga website here.
