SPOKANE, Wash. — As the 50th anniversary of Expo '74 approaches, Spokane has a new challenge in front of them. That challenge is keeping the city beautiful.
The Downtown Spokane Partnership and Volunteer Spokane are teaming up to host a spring-cleaning week. If you are out and about in Spokane over the next few days, there is a good possibility you will see teams of volunteers tidying up.
Monday kicked off the week of clean up as groups collected trash that was found on the ground throughout the city.
The rest of the week consists of several theme days for cleanup. Those days include:
- Wednesday is May Day where trees and planters will be prepared
- Thursday is Graffiti Day where efforts will be taken to scrub off graffiti
- Friday is Viaduct Cleanup Day where families will go around Browne’s Addition to clean ahead of Bloomsday Weekend.
Although the cleanup challenge is happening ahead of the Expo anniversary, you can always volunteer yourself or a team for a 15-minute cleanup session with the Downtown Spokane Partnership.
