SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Fair is hosting two book-reading sessions accompanied by the book's protagonist, Cedar the Highland Cow.

The sessions will take place at the Spokane Public Library in Shadle Park between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 15.

The two book-reading sessions will be for pre-school-age students and kindergarten-age students, but the event is free for all community members.

Honey Smith and Joy Smith from Dalkena Highlands will be reading about Cedar's life story.

All seating will be on the grass in the park and organizers ask that no lawn chairs be brought.

Cedar will be in a small pen and guests will have the opportunity to take photos and pet Cedar. Guests will not be allowed to enter the pen.

The Spokane Library will provide a free crafts station.

There will also be an opportunity to win a copy of the book. 50 signed copies will be given away to attendees. Guests will also receive early access to purchase the book if they do not win a free copy.

A portion of the book sales will go to the Spokane Fair & Expo Center AG Fund.

Additionally, those who attend this book-reading event will be able to enter their name for a chance to win free admission to the Spokane County Interstate Fair and free food vouchers.

Guests can also buy discounted fair tickets for $7 at the book-reading event.

Dalkena Highlands will also be selling items from the GOAT Gear collection which is a clothing line created to promote agricultural education. 100% of the profits from GOAT Gear sales will be donated to support agricultural education and the Spokane Fair’s youth programs.
