Coeur d'Alene singer Jacob Maxwell eliminated from 'The Voice'

Jacob Maxwell was eliminated as Tuesday’s results show trimmed the Top 24 to the Top 13.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Coeur d’Alene native Jacob Maxwell will not compete in the Top 13 on NBC singing show “The Voice.”

Maxwell was eliminated during Tuesday’s results show, which trimmed the Top 24 to the Top 13.

Judge John Legend chose to save contestant Celia Babini rather than Maxwell.

"I was so excited to be a coach on 'The Voice.' I thought it was going to be all fun and games and then we come to this moment and it’s really painful," Legend said before his selection.

Shawn Sounds and Maelyn Jarmon of Team Legend also made it to the Top 13 after America's vote.

Maxwell sang a rendition of Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart” during his Top 24 performance on Monday night.

Maxwell tweeted about the performance that same day.

“Tonight was amazing. I gave 110% on that stage and I have no regrets regardless of what happens tomorrow,” he wrote.

Maxwell advanced to the Top 24 after Legend saved him during the Cross Battles round. He sang a rendition of Shania Twain song “You’re Still the One.”

Maxwell and Cardon sang a cover of "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic" by The Police, which judge Adam Levine said is one his favorite songs.

In early March, he first wowed judges during blind auditions for the show when he sang a cover of the Taylor Swift song “Delicate" during his audition.
