Zags fall to No. 4 on AP poll after loss to Tennessee

Gonzaga fell to No. 4 on the Associated Press poll on Wednesday morning after falling 76-73 to No. 7 Tennessee Volunteers at the Jerry Colangelo Classic on Sunday.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Gonzaga dropped several spots to No. 4 on the Associated Press poll after falling 76-73 to No. 7 Tennessee Volunteers at the Jerry Colangelo Classic on Sunday.

The Zags (9-1) were ranked No. 1 in the week 5 poll released last Monday. Tennessee (7-1) climbed to No. 3 on Monday, with Duke ranked No. 2 and Kansas ranked No. 1.

Tennessee's Admiral Schofield scored a career-high 30 points and hit the Volunteers final two threes to secure the win on Sunday.

Gonzaga did not score a field goal in the final 4:16 of play and only scored five points in that time span overall.

Four Zags scored in double digits with Rui Hachimura and Brandon Clarke pouring in 21 apiece, and Zack Norvell and Corey Kispert adding 13, respectively. Josh Perkins added nine assists and moved into fourth place on Gonzaga's all-time assist list during the contest. He now has 562 career assists overall and surpassed John Stockton when he moved into fourth.

Tennessee made 12 3's in the contest, and Gonzaga's 11 turnovers led to 16 Tennessee points, compared to Gonzaga's three points off of seven Tennessee turnovers.

The Zags get a break until Saturday, when they head to Chapel Hill to take on North Carolina at 4 p.m. local time on ESPN 2.
