Vigil held on Medical Lake HS track for student who died in crash

A few hundred people came together Wednesday night on the track of Medical Lake High School all in hopes of finding some healing.

MEDICAL LAKE, Wash. -- Friends and fellow students gathered Wednesday night at a vigil to honor a teen killed in a car crash over the weekend.

Journey Tueller, 17, died in the crash just outside of Airway Heights. Three other teens were injured and taken to Sacred Heart.

A few hundred people came together Wednesday night on the track of Medical Lake High School all in hopes of finding some healing.

As the sun began to set on the Medical Lake community, it was another day without one of their own. All four girls were part of the track team, so it was only fitting to bring the community together on the track.

"It's a tight knit community and we felt the need to some together," said Medical Lake School District Superintendent Time Ames.

They felt the need to pray for the swift recovery of the injured and to remember Journey.

“It's been a sad week but I feel like we have gotten better in the healing and grieving process. I've watched resiliency in staff and kids. A lot of hugging, a lot of crying, a lot of support for each other," Ames said.
