SPD: SWAT incident near Gonzaga ends, search for armed man continues

"Please heed this warning for your safety," school officials wrote in an email.

UPDATE: The incident near Hamilton and Augusta has ended, after police did not locate the subject inside the house.

Spokane PD warned Gonzaga and the community to stay away from a SWAT situation in the Logan neighborhood on Thursday morning. A woman had called 911 to report her brother had a gun. SPD said the man was in violation of a domestic violence order.

SPD said they did not find the man at the home near Hamilton and Augusta, and no one was hurt in the Thursday incident.

Police are still searching for the man.

Gonzaga University tweeted students could return to the area just before 1 p.m. The call originally came in at 8 a.m., according to SPD.

SPD officials said the investigation is ongoing.

Gonzaga University warned students Thursday morning of heavy police activity near Cincinnati and Augusta.

"Please heed this warning for your safety," school officials wrote in an email.

Spokane PD said they were on the scene for an armed subject violating a domestic violence order.

Officials said the man's sister called police at 8 a.m. to report her brother having a gun and that she felt unsafe. SWAT and police responded to the area. Officials said the man did not respond to them as of 10:45 a.m. They said they were not sure if the man was inside the house near Hamilton and Augusta , and they did not have many details surrounding the incident.

SPD said students should avoid the area.
