Stolen plane narrowly missed family

A family that just a cabin on Ketron Island was relaxing there Friday when a stolen Horizon airplane from Sea-Tac airport crashed closed to their property. Investigators told the owner the plane would have hit his cabin if it was in the air for “maybe another second, second-and-a-half.”

Unknown drug likely causing surge in drug-related calls

An unknown drug is expected to be the cause behind at least one death and multiple police phone calls, according to Spokane Police Department officials.

Police said they received roughly 20 drug-related calls Tuesday of people acting in an “erratic fashion.”

Rare fish

Chris Leone and Kristin Baerg found a six-foot long fish with an eye the size of a human fist while walking along the beach at Deception Pass in northwest Washington. Leone’s first thought was, “That’s a freaky looking fish.”

Unhealthy air quality plagues INW

The air quality in Spokane is still unhealthy for all. The index is sitting above 160 on Wednesday morning. The National Weather Service has issued an air quality alert for areas throughout eastern Washington and North Idaho.

Spokane man raises money to pay off lunch debt

In July, Robert Howe organized a fundraiser with the help of community sponsors to raise money and was able to pay off all lunch debt for Spokane Public Schools. Now he is organizing a benefit dinner at Ferraro’s Family Italian restaurant.
