Buckshot Fire burning in Mattawa grows to 1,000 acres; 50 percent contained

The fire has shut down Road 26 to Road R Southwest and Road U from 26 Southwest to 24.7.

MATTAWA, Wash. – Evacuation orders have been lowered for the Buckshot Fire burning in Mattawa.

Level three evacuations issued for Mansfield Road north of Crescent Bar Road and Lakeside Way have been lowered to a level one. About 50 homes were threatened.

As of Friday morning, officials said two outbuildings were damaged in the fire.

Grant County Sheriff's Officials said the fire has burned an estimated 1,000 acres. It is 50 percent contained as of Friday evening.

The fire shut down Road 26 to Road R Southwest, Road U from 26 Southwest to 24.7 and Highway 24 at the Vernita Bridge.

A Red Cross Shelter is open at Mattawa Junior High School.
