Coin toss determines Idaho city's newest city council member

This was the first time in Plummer history anyone could recall a coin toll determining the winner of a tied vote.

PLUMMER, Idaho—A coin toss decided the winner of a tied city council seat in an Idaho city Monday.

Plummer city officials said a special meeting was held to do the coin flip that would decide between Leticia Kennar and Ashley Lounsbury for filling the second seat for city council.

City Clerk Sarah Gauthier said this was the first time in Plummer history anyone could recall a coin toss determining the winner of a tied vote.

Gauthier said the coin landed heads-up, granting the victory to Ashley Lounsbury.
