COEUR d’Alene, Idaho – A new taqueria is scheduled to open this spring on Sherman Avenue in downtown Coeur d’Alene.
Rob Berger, the president of Crafted Tap House + Kitchen, confirmed they were renovating the space, which used to be Victory Sports Hall into what will be called “Sonrisa.”
Berger said they will have a few more weeks of construction and then training before they are ready to open their taqueria.
“There’s a lot you can do with tacos, but ours are going to be unique and world tacos,” he explained. “[The tacos] will have stuff on them that’s not your traditional taco, like flavor profiles from around the world.”
The old restaurant there, Victory, had the same menu as Crafted next door and shared a kitchen. Berger said this time around, they are building their own separate kitchen for Sonrisa and the menu will be very different from Crafted.
Berger said their menu, which isn’t finalized yet, will be scratch made and high end.
“We’ll also have a couple other things like empanadas,” Berger said.
They plan to keep all the TV monitors from Victory, but will instead mostly play music videos from the 1980s-1990s. Berger said they’re also planning movie nights and big game days.
“It’s more than just tacos,” he said. “It’ll be good times and fun as well.”
